A Joy-Filled Community Event
Kirtan - Devotional Call and Response Chanting
June 19 at 7:00 pm
RSVP: 707-318-6538
"Bhakti (devotion) and music generally go together. All music has evolved out of 'Om', the mystic syllable which symbolizes the Absolute." ~ Sri Swamiji
Your
Kirtan Guides Will Be: Heidi
& Jim Noh-Kuhn, Kashi Ananda, Hannah Carratti, Patricia London
and Patricia Hatfield
This evening is an opportunity to experience the joy of nadam, sacred sound. Kirtan is the ancient practice of call and response chanting. It is devotional, joyful and meditative. Chanting the sacred names in community brings a sense of unity and fulfillment. These sacred songs are like a thread that links us to each other and to the eternal, loving, compassionate presence that is our true home.
Heidi and Jim Noh-Kuhn's chanting style includes Cosmic Chants, written by Paramhansa Yogananda and others, both in Sanskrit and English and led with harmonium and voice.
Kashi Ananda is a senior TriYoga teacher and in the lineage of Jayalakshmi Datta Avadhoota. The chants that Kashi will be leading have been taught to her by her Guru, Swamini Kali Ray, founder of TriYoga International.
Hannah Caratti loves sharing the joy of kirtan and has led group singing for 30 years with dulcimer, harmonium and flute. Hannah's chants can be heard at www.yogahealingarts.net
Patricia London has been leading kirtans internationally for almost 30 years, using the harmonium and voice in Sanskrit and English.
Patricia Hatfield is a musician, teacher and cross-cultural healing music practitioner. She studied Tabla with Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, as well as African and Afro-Cuban drumming withmaster drummers and currently leads drum circles in the community for health and well-being and for fun!
